Jan 15, 2016 at 17:20 | comment | added | SpiritFryer | @GentlePurpleRain Oh wow. It's a big coincidence then, because it's a Jazz album. "my urge to wax poetic may be tiresome to some, but still, it's rather jazzy". Funny.
Jan 15, 2016 at 17:13 | comment | added | GentlePurpleRain | @SpiritFryer I've never heard of a music album "Wax Poetic". I was using the phrase in its (more) literal sense, meaning to "increase in eloquence", or, more colloquially, to "get really wordy". (To wax means to increase in size, as the moon waxing and waning.)

I didn't get close to the solution before giving up and looking at the accepted one, but I did catch on to the "Wax Poetic" reference. I thought "my urge to wax poetic" sounded like a weird sentence, and Google uncovered the truth - "it's rather jazzy" confirmed to me that you were referencing the music album "Wax Poetic". I also found out that to "wax poetic" is a genuine phrase, which I didn't know, so more knowledgeable people may have missed out on the reference! ;)

Jul 31, 2015 at 19:25 | comment | added | GentlePurpleRain | Thanks, @VictorHenry! I get frustrated sometimes trying to read rhymes with poor metre, so I try to get it right as much as I can.
Jul 31, 2015 at 19:23 | comment | added | VictorHenry | I want to specifically compliment you on your meter. Many of the poems on this site (including some of mine) have pretty bad rhythm, but this poem is impeccably timed. I wish I could upvote it twice!
Jul 31, 2015 at 15:20 | comment | added | GentlePurpleRain | @justhalf It took me a few hours last night. I had the help of a thesaurus and a rhyming dictionary, and lists of Q, J, and Z words. I used Excel to set up formulas that would show me what letters were not in my text -- it caught a few instances where I included a letter by accident, and had to rejig my text.
