  • $\begingroup$ It's probably easier to graphically represent it if you start from meekest with your numbering to keep it consistent since that is actually what matters in the problem. Each meek pirate has to be offered more than they could get in any further iteration, which may actually make 1 gold insufficient at > 400 as well potentially. $\endgroup$ Commented May 15, 2014 at 20:34
