2$\begingroup$ This reminds me of a true story about a researcher who hiked to the top of a volcano with other researchers. It was night and the researcher looked at the sky and said "even here we can't see any stars even though we're far from the light pollution of cities". His friends were surprised by this declaration and that's how they found out that he was suffering from lack of oxygen because of the volcano emissions, which affected his vision and prevented him from seeing the stars. $\endgroup$– StefCommented Feb 13 at 11:42

$\begingroup$ I like this very much but it doesn't solve how the caller knows exactly where he is. Maybe it is a variation where the caller has some disease that makes him see this and can only be treated at one place, or the disease is super rare and he is the only person known to have it. It must also affect memory. $\endgroup$– BeothornCommented Feb 14 at 7:30

1$\begingroup$ @Beothorn Yes. The picture attached seems very unlikely to be a picture of an actual place, if at all that is what it is meant to be in the first place. $\endgroup$– Pumpkin_StarCommented Feb 14 at 9:27

$\begingroup$ The puzzle's asking where the caller is, though; that suggests that there's supposed to be a way to name a specific place where they are. It also doesn't really explain the responder's odd response in Hint C? $\endgroup$– IdranCommented Feb 15 at 14:30

$\begingroup$ Good guess, but this answer is incorrect. $\endgroup$– Blue HerringCommented Feb 15 at 14:55

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. logical-deduction), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
