Mar 10, 2021 at 17:14 comment added Albert.Lang With a knight on c2 the whole thing would unravel because the queen on a3 would no longer be needed @Retudin. Correction: not completely unravel as the rook on a2 would take over, but I hope you can see the point.
Mar 10, 2021 at 17:09 comment added Retudin other suggestion make c2 and c4 knight and pawn/rook for an extra point/piece protecting b3
Mar 10, 2021 at 16:58 comment added Retudin oeps, missed that
Mar 10, 2021 at 16:51 comment added Albert.Lang @Retudin That's not allowed: Requirement says must be legal with white to move after removal of any non-king piece. In particular, you can't pin any black pieces because when such a piece is removed the black king is in check which with white to move is not a legal position.
Mar 10, 2021 at 16:39 comment added Retudin I am not going to steal 'your idea' again. So can I suggest you improve your witness-less answer with 2 white rooks (and replacing the 2 pawns with black rooks or knights) like in my answer

Mar 9, 2021 at 19:06 comment added justhalf Right, cool tricks to chain the black pieces to reduce the number of witnesses! And I like the storytelling in the explanation, haha
