Nov 14, 2020 at 8:33 | comment | added | Retudin | I am convinced your number is wrong: The moved horse adds 2 to the cycle length, so your total is higher than 139. It can be increased by one with a pawn on h8. Please recalculate, claim this as your own adaption and don't ask my help. (This pollutes chat, if I see something I will volunteer it)

Nov 13, 2020 at 15:03 | comment | added | Retudin | the pawn covers b7, so must be taken. and OK
Nov 13, 2020 at 14:50 | comment | added | Rewan Demontay | What god does adding a pawn on a8 do? The White king never goes there. But I have some ideas with Black pawns. You'll see soon enough. :)
Nov 13, 2020 at 14:35 | comment | added | Retudin | Well,I just upped my solution to 74; only 56 to go :-).Oh wait, success: 131 (your solution, with an extra pawn on a8, just to prove there are better 'illegal' ones)

Nov 13, 2020 at 6:58 | comment | added | Retudin | This is crazy, definitely something fascinating. It had not occurred to me at all that checking the black king must be prevented; I do agree with that. I do feel however this violates the 3rd requirement: pawns promoted to rook are not starting material.
