  • $\begingroup$ Yeah, I don't think psychology or neuroscience are really the right fields for this. There are two things people talk about: a more metaphorical version in the realm of sociology or philosophy in which emergent phenomena exist in society. There, global consciousness doesn't really have anything but a metaphorical link to brain consciousness. Then the other side is the religious or metaphysical side that's all woo and doesn't have any scientific support and isn't based on scientific thinking at all. $\endgroup$
