The Unwanted Undead Adventurer: The Unwanted Undead Adventurer: Volume 1

Feels like a log book written in Skyrim. Each time the story could progress, it will reminisce / flash black... sometimes twice because it was told in two perspectives. I get that the first volume is usually the world building book, but it wasn't told well. The story progressed very little. Some details could wait until the next volume. Or better yet, they could have just packaged vol. 1-2 as a single book. That said, I'll read volume 2 with the hope that it doesn't do another Skyrim, move the story better, and let the readers know what the true objective of the book or hero is.

This is overall a well written novel. The interactions between characters, illustrations, combat and plot are well written. The main character has self doubt, but also a kind heart, this leads to lengthy monologues about the merits of his behavior in each circumstance. There is also a lot of information provided which is not always necessary. However, I have hope the writer improves, as the core story and characters are enjoyable to read and I do not mind skimming the repeditive parts.

While I find the main character Rentt admirable the first 57 percent of the story is a drag. Four pages to defide to change his name at the guild after his incident. Then four more pages of him monologing his decision inside the guild building. This story is of a senile old man repeating information with not much world building. Rentt wants to be a Mitiril class adventure and he was weak, make a game of how many times this bit of information is repeated that and the word bronze class. While I will give this story one more volume, because i somewhat enjoyed it, I'm hoping it's not the same chore to read.
