A true story: Wants the truth told, after an experience no one would ever want. The hero takes us through his life in the midst of his country's wars. The greatest struggles are revealed and his truth finally gets told. We feel so much, and his place in history was not little. Against his enemies efforts to destroy, he stands, but not in vengeance.

Well written. Reads like a thriller, hard to put down.

Jack Fairweather has been a correspondent for the Washington Post and the Daily Telegraph, where he served as the Baghdad and Persian Gulf bureau chief. His reporting during the Iraq War earned him Britain’s top press award. The author of A War of Choice and The Good War, he splits his time between the UK and Vermont.
