Endeavor Pakistan had the honour of hosting some of the A-listed supporters of the Startups ecosystem which included Pakistani investors (local & global), founders and other esteemed guests. The dinner was hosted in the city of lights of Karachi. It was an amazing opportunity for some high impact one on one conversations which potentially create a more empathetic safe space for the entrepreneurs to express themselves and get candid support from some of the best in the industry. It is a way for our guests to pay it forward and supporting the entrepreneurs in dreaming big by enabling the discovery of the paths previously untrodden to scale faster ! Our team at Endeavor Pakistan was delighted to host a very special Founders Dinner in Karachi. It wasn't special because we were the hosts :) but because of the candid conversations. Local founders participate in various events, from large flashy conferences to networking hi-teas and small alumni groups. Each type of event has its utility and we need all of these to sustain our ecosystem, but they usually provide very surface-level networking. Most of these events offer "vertical" access i.e. sponsors and senior well-known people are on stage while aspiring founders and students are in the audience. We need more "horizontal" access, where founders open up with other founders who they can relate to. Since Endeavor is primarily focused on scale-ups, we've created a support network that helps these experienced founders talk to others on the same path, even if they're not at the same stage. This breaks through the silos and defensive walls that we Pakistanis have gotten used to and shows them that everyone is in the same boat and facing very similar challenges. 90% of founders are really helpful and vulnerable about their journeys. You just have to provide them a trusted environment.
