How can there be a Big Bang without a singularity?

I have read to Sean Carroll that he says that the Big Bang model is correct, but the Big Bang event is incorrect, so what is the difference? And everyone knows that the Big Bang model is linked to ...

Time and causality at the beginning of the universe

I have been, quite a few times, been caught up in arguments on the internet, where my opponent posits causal events existed before the "singularity" at the "beginning" of the ...

Is Loop quantum cosmology replacing the Big Bang singularity with a big bounce?

Am I correct in understanding that in the cosmological version of Loop quantum gravity, namely Loop quantum cosmology, the universe in all models starts with a big bounce? Are there other models, for ...

Is it possible that a black hole has a universe in itself? [duplicate]

Every black hole has a singularity. But the singularity is covered by a thing called 'Event horizon'or ' Schwarzchild Radius'. Our universe is originated from a naked singularity. By naked singularity,...

Distinction between different points at Big Bang Singularity

As per the Big Bang model of Cosmology roughly 13.8 billion years ago a singularity exploded exponentially to eventually become the present universe. At the present time (basically current time-slice) ...

Black holes as universal "anchors"? [closed]

I'm not a Physicist, but was watching a program about black holes. As I understand it time and space "stop" at the singularity of a black hole, which made me think of a black hole as some kind of "...

Why do singularities either lie completely in the future or completely in the past?

In his book "A Brief History of Time", Prof. Hawking goes on to state that singularities either lie completely in the future or in the past. What does that mean in layman terms and why does it so ...

Space-time infinite [duplicate]

My apologies if this is a duplicate question. I could not find it. Why do we think space-time itself started at the BB? Or to word it another way, could space-time have always existed infinitely in ...

Where does the matter and energy go in a black hole?

Is it possible that when matter and energy enter the singularity inside a black hole, that it all re-appears at the big bang? Some say that black holes will eventually swallow all the matter in the ...
