Apr 29 at 7:51 | comment | added | Krave37 | @JohnRennie Oh, I see, it just means that it will go along the rod with constant speed $u$. How did you figure it out though? The language used confused me.
Apr 29 at 6:42 | comment | added | John Rennie | @Krave37 Ah, OK, in this case it means the frame in which the stick is stationary. This is a non-inertial frame, but that doesn't matter since we aren't calculating forces anyway. Basically he just means the distance of the beetle from the end of the stick measured along the stick is given by $s = ut$. Then the height of the beetle above the floor will just be $s~sin\theta$ where $\theta$ is the angle of the stick to the floor.

Apr 29 at 4:44 | comment | added | John Rennie | @Krave37 what book, and what page/chapter?
Apr 29 at 4:41 | comment | added | Krave37 | @JohnRennie is this a defination, because in my book the author uses the frame of the stick, and says that fly moves with constant velocity in the frame of the stick
Apr 29 at 4:40 | comment | added | Krave37 | @WillO that is my doubt.

Apr 27 at 15:18 | comment | added | John Rennie | The frame of the stick is the frame in which the centre of mass of the stick is stationary i.e. the total linear momentum of the stick is zero. If v₁ ≠ v₂ the stick will be rotating in about its centre of mass in this frame.
