Jan 18 at 23:10 comment added pldsdc My textbook states the law of conservation of energy as follows: For conservative forces: $0 = \Delta KE + \Delta PE$, and for non-conservative forces: $W_{nc} = \Delta KE + \Delta PE + \Delta OE$ and from there, you can get that $W_{nc} = \Delta E$ since it's just all forms of energy. However, the only issue I have with this is that it only shows that non-conservative forces are equal to the change in energy. What if there are other conservative forces? I've edited my original post to include the link to the textbook if you'd like to take a look at it.
