Today is anticipated to see continued rainfall in parts of Maharashtra, as declared by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), with a 'red alert' for 'heavy to very heavy rainfall' in the district of Palghar and an 'orange alert' for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts. PTI reports indicate that the weather department anticipates substantial rain in the state's capital today. Consequently, the civic chief advises citizens to stay indoors and only leave if necessary. Isolated regions in Pune district's mountainous areas, Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra, are also expected to experience 'heavy to extremely heavy rain' today, as per IMD's forecast. On July 21, Mumbai experienced substantial rainfall, leading to waterlogging in several low-lying areas and traffic disruptions in the city and suburbs. The IMD observatories in both Colaba and Santacruz reported substantial rainfall, logging 92.2 mm and 115.2 mm, respectively, from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm. Telangana is also expected to face significant rainfall on Saturday, with a 'red alert' already being issued on July 21. The Hyderabad Meteorological Center states that a low-pressure system over South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh's coast, along the West Central Bay of Bengal, and an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 kilometres above mean sea level are the causes behind the anticipated widespread rainfall. The IMD has also issued an 'orange alert' for four districts in Odisha, predicting 'heavy to very heavy rainfall'.
