But mathematics does not strive for necessity in the sense of necessary facts versus contingent facts in our world: Mathematics provides a whole bunch of geometries different from the Euclidean geometry. But mathematics does not ask which geometry explains best our observations in cosmology.
Apr 5 at 9:40 comment added kouty @JoWehler I'm sorry for the lake of accuracy. I want to express that. Mathematical thinking has to do with necessity or moreover with purity of concept. On the other hand a game is made by arbitrary rules. And the only purpose of a game is the pleasure of gaming.
