    The University of San Jose – Recoletos CPA Review Center organized a testimonial dinner on 19 June to celebrate the new Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). Audit and Assurance Manager Stephen Villaver represented our firm, extending our warmest congratulations to the newly minted CPAs.     On 28 June, KPMG in the Philippines' Global Mobility Services (GMS) team conducted their GMS Reach workshop at the KPMG Center in Makati City. Tax Partner and GMS Country Leader Karen Jane Vergara-Manese facilitated the workshop together with Tax Partners Maria Ruby Rea-Vergara and Jozette Issel Dizon to discuss the GMS Reach behaviors: Value your time, Know what your client is doing and Create lasting connections. During the workshop, the GMS team also discussed practical ways to build GMS Reach behaviors. It was emphasized that GMS professionals are expected to exhibit these behaviors daily to enhance client relationships and deliver greater value. The workshop successfully reinforced the importance of these behaviors in fostering professional development and client satisfaction.

    Chairman and CEO Sharon Dayoan delivered the commencement address at the 2024 Commencement Exercises of Far Eastern University’s Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance, held on 10 July at the Philippine International Convention Center.     Audit and Assurance Manager Hanz Christian Harder and Associate Charls Lethner Anduque attended the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants Region 6’s (NFJPIA R6) awarding ceremony held on 30 June at the Business Inn in Bacolod City. In his talk, Hanz commended the hard work of the NFJPIA R6 officers and emphasized the significance of participating in academic organizations to better prepare students for their professional journeys in the industry. During the ceremony, Hanz also the presented awards and certificates to the awardees. KPMG in the Philippines congratulates all awardees!

    Last 13 to 15 June, we participated in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants’ (PUP JPIA) iPASS 6.0: Philippine Accountancy Students’ Summit. During the event, Department of Professional Practice Partner Arvin Lemuel Yanga provided insights on the latest International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS 18). Meanwhile, Senior Manager Nathaly Claire De Leon discussed maintaining ethical standards in networking and building relationships without compromising principles. Technology Consulting Partner Gilbert Trinchera was also one of the speakers and delved into key technological advancements in accounting. Additionally, Audit and Assurance Partner Florizza Simangan gave a brief introduction of the firm during the company talk session. Audit and Assurance Supervisors Alondra May Orenciana and Marlou Tuliao, along with Associate Jan Patrick Ramos, served as arbiters for the 15th PUP Pylon Cup, a quiz bee covering topics from the Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants (LECPA). Managers John Davin Encluna and Corrine Joy Lopez acted as case masters for the 4th Grand Pylon Case Challenge. Thank you, PUP JPIA, for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful event!

A Practical Guide to Understanding and Implementing the EOPT Law Webinar, more than 300 attendees joined our firm's tax leaders as they discussed the implementation of the Ease of Paying Taxes (EOPT) Law. The discussion was moderated by Tax Principal Manny Salvador III. During the session, Tax Partner Ryan Cabello and Tax Senior Manager Karlo Porto shared practical insights on the preparation of VAT and withholding taxes, giving the attendees a better understanding of the EOPT Law.
