Why do you think many people feel stuck in their jobs and struggle to find a way out? 🤔 I came across a TikTok video on my FYP and she was saying that there are most likely two fundamental approaches to life: LIFESTYLE-CENTERED and CAREER-CENTERED. Lifestyle-centered individuals prioritize their lifestyle preferences and choose jobs that accommodate those preferences. On the other hand, career-centered individuals prioritize their career aspirations and structure their lifestyle around their chosen career path. Consider these examples: LIFESTYLE-CENTERED: Imagine someone who dreams of traveling the world and opts to become a freelance virtual assistant, not necessarily out of passion for the work, but because it allows them the freedom to explore different destinations. CAREER-CENTERED: Contrastingly, envision a person who aspires to be a doctor, driven by the desire to save lives. They are willing to undergo rigorous training and relocate for their medical career because it aligns with their life's purpose. However, a significant portion of the population finds themselves living a career-centered life despite being inherently lifestyle-centered. Historically, humans didn't have the luxury to choose their careers; they simply did what was available. But as society evolved, we gained more autonomy in our career decisions. Yet, many still adopt a passive approach, leading to feelings of disillusionment and discontentment. Here's the key: If you're career-centered and have a clear vision for your professional path—whether it's becoming a doctor, an artist, or a leader—embrace it wholeheartedly. However, if you resonate more with the lifestyle-centered approach—seeking fulfillment and meaning beyond traditional career milestones—consider this: ❌ Don't fixate solely on job titles or industries. ✅ Instead, envision the life you want to lead and find a job that complements that vision, whether it's a 9 to 5, freelancing, or entrepreneurship.
