B.J. Novak gushes over Mindy Kaling’s third baby years after she addressed paternity rumors
B.J. Novak has “of course” met Mindy Kaling’s third baby.
The actor gushed to People Wednesday that Anne is an “adorable” child and “the best.”
His former “Office” co-star, 45, revealed via Instagram in June that she quietly welcomed her daughter four months prior.
“In late February I gave birth to my daughter, Anne,” the actress wrote. “She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined.
“When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life,” she continued. “I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline.”
The “Mindy Project” alum shared photos of Anne with older siblings Katherine, 6, and Spencer, 3, in the infant’s social media debut.
She gave birth to her eldest daughter and son in December 2017 and September 2020, respectively.
Since becoming a mom, Kaling has kept her children’s paternity private — despite rampant rumors that Novak, 44, is the father.
The Tony winner addressed the speculation in a 2022 Marie Claire interview.
“He’s the godparent to both my kids — and they have such a great relationship — and so far [the speculation hasn’t] affected my happiness at all, it hasn’t affected my kids or BJ,” she said, claiming it “doesn’t bother” her.
Kaling joked, “If that’s what is going to be titillating to people, I’ll take it.”
Three years earlier, she clarified to the New York Times that she won’t “talk to anyone” about that subject until she “speak[s] to” her own children.
She and Novak dated on and off between 2004 and 2007 and have been close friends since calling it quits.
“No one, including us, ever really knew, ‘Is this dating? Is this not dating?'” Novak explained to Vulture in 2012. “We were never really dating, we were never really not dating. We didn’t know. No one knew.
“All you’d know for sure was that you’d always find one of us next to the other, even if we weren’t getting along.”
In 2022, the duo teased their “insanely complicated relationship” while co-presenting an Emmy Award.
