Yankees’ slump rocks sportsbooks as Orioles now favored in AL East

The wheels are falling off in the Bronx, and the Yankees’ odds — and standings — edge in the American League East has disappeared.

The Orioles have overtaken the Bronx Bombers to win the division, moving to -135 odds at BetMGM to claim the division for the second straight year.

BetMGM told The Post that the Yankees (55-37) were -275 as recently as Memorial Day Weekend.

Fast forward to post-July 4th weekend, and the Yankees are down to +110 odds to win the division after Sunday’s 3-0 loss to the Red Sox dropped them to 6-16 dating back to June 13.

The poor trending results from the Yankees are bizarrely bad news for BetMGM, as the Yankees have few believers.

A BetMGM spokesperson told The Post that 80 percent of the money is on the Orioles to win the AL East, with bettors jumping on the Orioles at plus-money odds.

Baltimore had +200 odds to win the division on May 29, while the Yankees stood at -275 odds.

For the Yankees, though, “It’s right in front” of them, as manager Aaron Boone would say.

Or perhaps it’s all falling apart before their eyes.

On May 23, The Post correctly postulated that the Yankees’ starting pitching was headed toward collapse, thanks to horrific advanced metrics from Carlos Rodon, Luis Gil and Clark Schmidt.

Now, the Yankees are hoping for a rebound Rodon and Gil and for Schmidt to get healthy, as well as an improved performance from their lineup that has underachieved except for Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.

New York is still widely expected to earn a wild card spot, with its overall playoff odds at -10000 at DraftKings.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman will surely be active this month to reinforce this team that has holes in the lineup, bullpen and rotation.

However, with the Diamondbacks making the World Series after barely sneaking into a Wild Card spot, the competition for talent from the few tanking teams will be steep.

Everyone thinks they have a shot at winning it all, but as of now, the Yankees are taking on water here as the brutal freefall continues, winning just six of their last 22 games.

The Orioles owning -135 odds is a gift for those looking for a money-making endeavor that could net a 40 percent return on investment.
