Nexperia recently revealed plans to invest USD 200 million (approximately 184 million Euros) in developing next-generation #widebandgap semiconductors (WBG), including silicon carbide (#SiC) and gallium nitride (#GaN). Our history in Hamburg began in Lokstedt 100 years ago with the Valvo Radioröhrenfabrik and has evolved into supplying around 25 percent of the global demand for small signal diodes and transistors. Now it's time for the next chapter. We are investing 200 million US dollars (appx. 184 million Euros) in Hamburg, Germany, to develop and produce the next generation of wide bandgap semiconductors such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN). In doing so, we are taking important steps to strengthen our position as a leading supplier of energy-efficient semiconductors. And, help to make better use of available electrical energy responsibly. Moving forward, our Hamburg fab will cover the complete range of WBG semiconductors while still being the largest factory for small signal diodes and transistors. ⚡ How do our flexible ESD devices protect automotive boards with nets from 12 V, 24 V and 48 V?   In his latest blog post, Andreas looks at some of the factors driving the change in board net voltages used to power electric systems in automobiles and discusses features of a new AEC-Q101 qualified portfolio of ESD protection devices.   Tailored ESD and TVS protection for automotive in-vehicle networks and applications.   Shrinking silicon geometries allow more complex electronic content to be squeezed into small spaces to handle increased data rates. However, designers can no longer rely on the internal ESD protection structures of the system chips and external, discrete ESD protection solutions become key to maintain a high system level robustness.
