The CSDDD introduces a due diligence duty, making it a legal requirement for many companies to check how their actions negatively affect people and the environment in their own operations and in their value chain, inside and outside of Europe and to act with due care. This April, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), a European Union regulation, has been adopted by the European Parliament, after being passed with a large majority. This majority shows that many parliamentarians believe it is time to move forward with the regulations aiming at minimising packaging pollution and working towards a more circular economy! This will be applicable to all packaging within the EU, including imports. We've compiled a summary to help you navigate the anticipated changes! 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 The final package is expected to be approved at the end of 2024, early 2025. This means the PPWR will become an EU-wide law mid-2026. We are dedicated to helping our clients comply by providing sustainable alternatives.
