Display Europe, the groundbreaking media platform that is a free central portal for original, federated and user-generated media content in 15 languages, has undergone a comprehensive relaunch. More than thirty years after the founding of the EU, a real European public needs to be recognisable. Display Europe wants to remedy this and show what a decentralized media information supply can look like. Click the link to read netzpolitik.org’s insightful article (in German) on how the platform works, and it’s second phase plans: https://bit.ly/3LqRIyo Display Europe is co-funded by the European Union and run by a consortium of our Foundation, Cultural Broadcasting Archive - Verein zur Förderung digitaler Kommunikation (CBA), fairkom, Eurozine, Voxeurop, Hostwriter, Krytyka Polityczna, El Diario, Good Conversations, PublicSpaces, CMFE - Community Media Forum Europe (CMFE), HUMAN, VPRO, Sound & Vision, YEPP Italia, Mediehuset Fanzingo and The Schuman Show.

Our Foundation, in collaboration with partners of the Cultural Deal for EU, has issued a statement urging the European Parliament to exercise diligence in appointing the Chair, Vice-Chairs, and members of the CULT Committee. This appeal directly responds to recent attempts by the newly formed right-wing nationalist populist group, Patriots for Europe, to secure the chairmanship of the Culture and Education Committee (CULT) in the European Parliament. In an op-ed for EUobserver, Isabelle Schwarz, our Head of Public Policy, advocates for a one-billion euro European Cultural Deal for Ukraine. Europe needs Ukraine as Ukraine needs Europe. The recovery and future of Ukraine in the EU cannot be envisaged without culture playing its full role. This needs the determination and commitment of Ukraine to embed culture in its recovery, reconstruction and modernisation strategy. "Culture and cultural heritage can provide the imagination and the stories we need to foster a true European sentiment, a sense of purpose and belonging," write Lars Ebert, Secretary-General of Culture Action Europe; Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, Secretary-General of Europa Nostra; and André Wilkens, Director of our Foundation, in the op-ed, "What We Need is a Cultural Deal for Europe" published on Euronews. "As three major European civil society organisations linked to culture and cultural heritage, speaking on behalf of millions of artists, heritage professionals and cultural creatives active in Europe, we call on the future leaders of the European Union Institutions to put Culture and Heritage where they belong: at the very top of Europe’s agenda." The Europe Challenge empowers libraries like Muntpunt to collaborate with community groups, addressing pressing social issues through innovative local projects. This year, Muntpunt Library's "Elections Experience Trail" in Brussels collaborates with the community group Tisaanu to deepen young citizens' engagement with democracy and enhance their understanding of political processes beyond traditional classroom settings. The Elections Experience Trail aims to inspire and educate young voters to make informed decisions by providing interactive and practical experiences in the democratic process. This initiative enriches the political discourse among Europe's youth, promoting a vibrant, participatory democracy. The Europe Challenge is an annual programme that brings together teams from libraries and communities across Europe to address social isolation, inequality, disinformation, climate crises and other local challenges by developing, sharing and implementing creative solutions with support from our Foundation and its partners.
