Closing Juliana Canal https://lnkd.in/ePbQt2Wm On March 19th the message came from the Ministry of Infrastructure & Water management that part of the Juliana Canal will be closed from October 2024 till May 2025. This part of the Canal is located south of our inland terminal and does not effect our services to Rotterdam. For our services to Antwerp we cannot use the Albert Canal in this period. Instead we will use the river Maas and the Rhein-Schelde connection. Our services and schedules of the barges will remain intact. For some of our customers this closing brings serious problems in their operations, so we hope that the time period can be shortened one-way or another. We stay in close contact with the authorities in order to secure our intermodal services for our customers and stakeholders. Activities Daily multimodal connections by Barge, to the mainports of Rotterdam and Antwerp Transport of containers by barge between Rotterdam, Antwerp and Born Trucking to destinations in The Netherlands (Limburg), Germany (NRW) and Belgium (Limburg) Cargo handling - Storage - Repair and Cleaning - Customs facilities The Barge Terminal is primarily an Inland Container Distribution Terminal, a maritime terminal for deepsea and shortsea containers. Barge Terminal Born can also offer gas measurements, fumigation and VGM certificates Five barges with capacity between 150 - 335 TEU each, sailing continuously between Born and all the terminals in Rotterdam and Antwerp, transporting a total in access of 4,500 TEU per week. Ten fixed sailings are offered between Born to all water-connected terminals in both Rotterdam and Antwerp. Barge Terminal Born is specialised in taking care of the total logistic operation of the inland container transport for forwarders, carriers and shippers, including customs facilities. Developed in conjunction with the customers, these logistic approaches have resulted in efficient, sharply priced tailor-made operations.
