Apple Music Home Session: Jockstrap - Single

Jockstrap cover a titan of a song on their Apple Music Home Session: Glen Campbell’s 1968 classic “Wichita Lineman”. Given a folktronica update featuring piercing strings, electronic beats and sampled vocals, it sees singer and violinist Georgia Ellery take on what is surely one of pop’s most beautiful lyrics: “And I need you more than want you/And I want you for all time.” Elsewhere, the pair return to “What’s It All About?” from their 2022 debut I Love You Jennifer B. And while Ellery’s singing voice sounds raw on the original version, here she tries something new. “The vocal track for that song on the record is the demo, so I never got a chance to do anything different,” she tells Apple Music. “I found it quite nice to change up the vocals a bit.” “It was a good challenge,” adds producer and multi-instumentalist Taylor Skye. “We didn’t have long to do it. It was quite nice after spending three years on an album to then make a track in two weeks or something.” There was one other benefit of this session: gearing up for the duo’s live shows following the release of I Love You Jennifer B. “It was nice to go back to what it’s all about,” says Ellery. “I was learning how to play on guitar at the time, so it was part of practice for the live set.”
