22Always, always, argue with your insurance company over the settlement. Look for cars online of similar age, quality, equipment, etc. to yours and use them to argue for a higher price. You can almost invariable get a significant increase in payout by doing this.– Jack AidleyCommented Aug 10, 2021 at 11:46

@JackAidley concur. Insurance is not your friend or partner. They are an enemy, an opponent in this.– CriggieCommented Aug 11, 2021 at 22:40

1The insurance does not need to make you whole. It's pretty clear that they have no incentive and no contract to do so. What they can and must do is one of A. Pay for repairs to covered damage, or B. Pay for the vehicle at the agreed price. That agreed price is the cost of a comparable car– NijCommented Aug 12, 2021 at 6:47

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. united-states), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
