    I see where you're coming from, but the influx of these specific, especially trivial questions is too great to be dealt with using the duplicate flag - finding good duplicates is hard work. Looking up the correct RTFM link is usually much faster.

  • Indeed it is. So what do you think about trying to implement an automatic (polite) RTFM suggestion? Also, if there are wiki pages with basic concepts, you can link to that page as duplicate, which would make the task of finding it much easier. There could be a table of "general reference" questions accessible to mods and probably also general users.

    -1 for "It is a very good idea to add the general reference reason" since I think it will reduce the overall value of SO, +2 for "to create them as wiki", so +1.
