  • You should probably include that in the answer. You selected an English comment from the dialog, which is a good indication that the posted comment will be in English. Still a bug though, I believe.

    I assume you need to ask the folks that help with translation in transifix to find those new strings and offer translations for them.

    As I understand it, SE relies on volunteers to translate (commonly site moderators?), or at least update the translations for, the UI elements which SE marks as translatable. The issue here may be just that the specific text has not yet been translated (i.e. the issue will be resolved as soon as a volunteer has the time to add a translation for all the new text in the recent update). On the other hand, it could easily be that SE didn't mark that text as translatable, which would mean the volunteers can't add a translation for it until SE adds it as translatable.

  • @Christian As I understand it, the dialog and comments being in English is fully consistent with either of the two possibilities I presented. That doesn't mean that it doesn't need to be fixed, just that it's either something which hasn't been done yet within the normal pipeline for localized sites (probable), or that SE forgot about including these portions of text in what can be translated (possible, as it does happen).

    These strings do need to be translated - as of yet, they're still really new and the community hasn't gotten to it yet. I'm sorry about the delay!

    I'm an active user in SOpt and we're facing the same issues there. TBH, I'm getting tired of this "SE changes site -> messages are in English -> community translates" cycle. It baffles me that this site (one of the most accessed in the world) can't find a better solution for internationalization - one that doesn't require the community to act after changes are made...

    @hkotsubo I hear you. Many times when we change an existing string only slightly, we use a translation fallback so that it still returns the old translated string until the new one is translated. That doesn't resolve situations like these where there are entire paragraphs of text that aren't translated. I totally agree that this is an accessibility issue and isn't fair to users of SOpt, SOjp, etc. I'm not sure what I can do about this internally but I'm going to start a conversation about it to see what solutions we may be able to put in place to avoid this sort of gap. Thanks for speaking up.
