15If a user who followed the question cast a close vote on the question, and that vote is not the last vote, they will receive a notification. If they cast the final vote, then will not receive a notification.– Yaakov EllisCommented Nov 17, 2020 at 14:43

4@YaakovEllis So a user who casts a close vote, but does not follow the question, will not get notified?– TylerHCommented Nov 17, 2020 at 15:00
-
5That is how I interpreted things from the start @TylerH. You need to be either OP or a follower of the Q to be notified.– LuuklagCommented Nov 17, 2020 at 15:21

6@Luuklag correct– Yaakov EllisCommented Nov 17, 2020 at 15:24

2@Luuklag It's how I'm hoping it was meant to be interpreted but since it's unclear based on the wording I wanted some explicit confirmation, because the alternative would be, IMO, pretty bad.– TylerHCommented Nov 17, 2020 at 16:27

It would be very weird to send a notification about the closure that you were the last nail of.– BraiamCommented Nov 17, 2020 at 17:41

1@Braiam I agree. That's not what this answer is about.– TylerHCommented Nov 17, 2020 at 22:05

1For future readers - TylerH has since edited the wording of that bullet point in Yaakov's post to clarify this point accordingly, changing it to: "The OP or any follower who cast the last vote for closing the question". :)– V2BlastCommented Nov 24, 2020 at 0:36

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. stack-overflow), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
