Mar 17, 2020 at 20:29 comment added Scott - Слава Україні I guess I agree with Kodos and animuson.  If we made decisions based on the worst possible usage / outcome, we would ban knives, cars and skydiving.  The weird thing is, I believe that I agree with your position:  It's overall MUCH harder now to differentiate block quotes [from unquoted text] now that they are not yellow.  But I just don’t understand the point you are trying to make here.  It seems almost like you are saying ‘‘Pandas look exactly like zebras, so we should exterminate pandas.’’
Mar 10, 2020 at 2:35 comment added animuson StaffMod I agree with Kodos here. What something looks like when it is used incorrectly with improper formatting isn't really relevant, and we shouldn't be styling based on that use case. It should just be fixed in the post, and regardless what it looks like in this case, it still pushes a user to make that fix. They look nothing alike when used correctly with proper formatting.
Mar 10, 2020 at 2:06 comment added Cave Johnson Why do you have to differentiate it. It's a mistake. If you see something like that you should fix it and it won't look like that anymore.
Mar 9, 2020 at 21:47 comment added pkamb @Catija I'm talking about quickly glancing at a question. They look very similar. It's overall MUCH harder now to differentiate block quotes, now that they are not yellow. This is not an improvement.
Mar 9, 2020 at 21:44 comment added Catija ... The two don't look "exactly" alike at all. The quote bar is taller and darker and narrower. Yes, if they're not directly next to each other, this may be somewhat confusing but it should be simple to open the edit window to see which is which.
Mar 9, 2020 at 21:24 comment added pkamb @Catija I see "single character" bad code formatting all the time when people paste in code or use bad markdown. That looks exactly like the empty single quote bar. See edit.

added 67 characters in body
Mar 9, 2020 at 21:13 comment added Catija I'm sorry... I don't see how those look the same at all. Quotes have a white background and a dark grey sidebar and code has a grey background and no sidebar.
