Star Trek: The Original Series novels have been published by several companies since they were first released shortly after the start of the TV series.

The first Star Trek novel was Mission to Horatius published by Whitman Publishing. Shortly after Bantam Books obtained the license and published a series of novelizations and original novels.

With the release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture Pocket Books took over the license and hold it to this day publishing numerous novels and other prose TOS fiction. (See: Star Trek: The Original Series (Pocket))
