The Federation Medal of Honor was an award honoring an act of special heroism by a member of Starfleet.

Captain James T. Kirk had been awarded the Federation Medal of Honor prior to his first meeting with Commodore Matthew Decker in 2266. (TOS - The Brave and the Bold, Book One novella: The First Artifact)

Lieutenant Commander Kieran Duffy of the USS da Vinci was posthumously awarded this citation for his self-sacrificing actions during the crisis at Galvan VI. (SCE eBook: Wildfire, Book 2)

This award may be the same as the "Federation Citation of Honor," granted to Jonathan Archer per the biographical file seen in ENT episode: "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II" (see: Jonathan Archer).
