Diplomacy was the practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of governments. Individuals who practiced diplomacy for a living were called diplomats.

History and specifics[]

In the United Federation of Planets, diplomats were members of the Federation Diplomatic Corps and often worked closely with the Federation Starfleet.

In 2267, the USS Enterprise was sent to Eminiar VII to open diplomatic relations with the Eminians. (TOS episode: "A Taste of Armageddon")
