The Wright Flyer was the first airplane on Earth to successfully perform a controlled, powered, sustained flight. The plane was built and flown for twelve seconds over a distance of thirty-seven meters by Orville and Wilbur Wright in Kitty Hawk,North Carolina on December 17, 1903. The Artisan prop and model shop of Quantum Mechanix, QMx FX Cinema Arts, was asked to illustrate the history of space flight with models for the film. They constructed fourteen models in total. On their website, there was a picture of the Wright Flyer model. [1]
