Woman in Motion is a documentary covering Nichelle Nichols's career as an actor in Star Trek and her work as a recruiter for NASA. It has a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes.

The film features extensive interview material with Nichols conducted by the documentary crew as well as archival interviews with the Archive of American Television (from October 2010), the talk show program Out of This World (from April 1977), William Miles's documentary Black Stars in Orbit (from March 1989), and other sources. Audio excerpts read by Nichols from her 1994 audio book Beyond Uhura are also featured as well as clips from promotional films made by Nichols's production company "Women in Motion" for NASA and the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum, the latter in which she reprised her role of Uhura wearing her Starfleet uniform (mid 2270s).

Streaming rights in North America were handled by Shout Factory, facilitating streaming on a number of platforms including Paramount+, Peacock, Tubi, Vudu, and Kanopy.
