The USS Edison (NCC-1683) was an Hoover-class Federation starship operated by Starfleet during the mid-23rd century.
It participated in the battle against a Klingon fleet at the Battle of the Binary Stars in 2256, where it was destroyed. (DIS: "Battle at the Binary Stars")
A display of the Edison was visible in the mess hall aboard the USS Discovery when Michael Burnham visited that area shortly after arriving aboard the Discovery six months after the battle. (DIS: "Context Is for Kings")
The ship might have been named after Thomas Edison, or Captain Balthazar M. Edison.
