Theodore Rose Cogswell (10 March 1918 – 3 February 1987; age 68) was a science fiction writer who, with Charles A. Spano, Jr., co-authored the Bantam TOS novel Spock, Messiah!
During the Spanish Civil War, Cogswell served as a truck and ambulance driver as one of the US volunteers who came to be collectively known as the Abraham Lincoln Brigade. During World War Two, he flew cargo planes for the US Army Air Corps.
His first science fiction story "The Spectre General" appeared in a 1952 issue of Astounding magazine. From 1974 to 1976 he served as Secretary of the Science Fiction Writers of America organization, and from 1972 to 1978 he served as an editor of its internal publication SFWA Forum. [1]
He died on February 3, 1987 and is interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
