Thalos was an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant. It had at least seven planets, including Thalos VI and Thalos VII.

By the 2250s, the United Federation of Planets had made first contact with one of the planets in this system. This planet was home to a warp capable civilization, which after first contact, had or was in the process of being inducted into the Federation.

In 2259, the location of this system was labeled on a stellar cartography chart that was seen on the USS Enterprise's ready room viewscreen. The system's symbol had a blue color, indicating that it was affiliated with the Federation. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds", "Children of the Comet", "Spock Amok")

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. Thalos was in or near to Ferengi space. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

In 3189, the location of Thalos was denoted on a holographic star chart of the galaxy at Federation Headquarters. (DIS: "Die Trying")

In 3191, this system's location was labeled on a star chart. (DIS: "Red Directive")

This star system was only mentioned in writing.

According to Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the Thalos system was a trinary system with an M-class star, a G-class star, and a K-class star.
