Real world info[]
It had only a minimal atmosphere and orbited Sol at a distance of just 0.39 astronomical units, temperatures on the Mercurian surface ranged from −183 °C to 427 °C.

This lifeless terrestrial planet had no moons.
Published in 1990, The Solar System was a reference poster, with a description of the Sol system's origins, planetary data on its nine planets, and brief descriptive comments on the minor bodies, for students and astronomers. The poster included a large illustration of the system that depicted the orbit of Mercury. This poster was displayed on a wall in the office where Rain Robinson worked, at the Griffith Observatory. (VOY: "Future's End") The poster was also featured on the wall of the classroom on Deep Space 9 in 2370. (DS9: "Cardassians")

I did a search for the poster in question. I bought it from an on-line seller. The people who made the poster updated the poster after the "demotion" of Pluto to a dwarf planet. I did a comparison with information that Jorg had about the poster prior to the new version (see talk page at Solar System). Much of the data appears to be the same. However, Pseudohuman is raising what he believes are valid points that since the poster is not the same, that the data can not be valid. He is looking for an elusive shot that shows the poster clearly. There is none. It was treated as a piece of background art. I am not saying the poster didn't appear in the show, it did, but in an earlier version which is now no longer available. (On an interpersonal level, using the words of an early show, he and I can't reach. I am reversing course.)Throwback (talk) 14:29, August 6, 2014 (UTC)
