Salt Vampires[]
"M-113 was a desolate planet that was once home to an ancient civilization, as well as the homeworld of an indigenous species known as the M-113 creature or "salt vampire"."
I thought the implication in the episode was that the salt vampires WERE the ancient civilization. - Mitchz95 18:14, January 2, 2012 (UTC)

the planet's supply of the substance became depleted in antiquity,
