Sub-Commander Tal was the 23rd century Romulan first officer of the D7 class Romulan flagship.
In 2268, Tal was left in command of his ship while his commander attempted to persuade Spock to betray Starfleet and join sides with his Romulan cousins.
Tal later pursued the USS Enterprise after Captain Kirk stole the flagship's cloaking device. (TOS: "The Enterprise Incident")
Tal was played by actor Jack Donner.
The novel Catalyst of Sorrows gives him the first name Che'srik.
