Stella Adler was a 20th century American actress and acting teacher. She was considered as a master in the field of acting and was a proponent of method acting.

In the late 2360s, Data studied Adler's work in order to improve his acting skills, and found himself "particularly attracted" to the techniques described – noting Adler as one of his mentors. (TNG: "Devil's Due")

Adler's granddaughter, Deborah Kampmeier, and great granddaughter, Sophia Adler were both involved with two episodes of Star Trek: Picard.

Among the real-life students of Stella Adler was Kate Mulgrew, though she left the Conservatory after her first year to pursue a television acting career. [1]
