(written from a Production point of view)

Sean Tretta (born 10 October 1976; age 47) is a television writer, producer, and director who worked as writer and co-executive producer on the third season of Star Trek: Picard.

He is married to Tiffany Shepis, who played Doctor Ohk in the same season.

He previously worked with Picard showrunner Terry Matalas on the science fiction series 12 Monkeys (2015-18, starring Aaron Stanford, Todd Stashwick, and Kirk Acevedo), serving as staff writer, story editor, and producer.

He started his career as director and writer on low-budget, often direct-to-video horror movies, such as The Great American Snuff Film (2004), Death of a Ghost Hunter (2007), The Death Factory Bloodletting (2008), and The Prometheus Project (2010, starring Tiffany Shepis, with Ed Lauter).

In 2016, Tretta wrote two episodes of the SyFy series Hunters. Between 2018 and 2021, he worked as staff writer, co-executive producer and supervising producer on the Sons of Anarchy spin-off series Mayans M.C., which featured Ada Maris, Ivo Nandi, and Tony Plana in recurring roles.

Tretta was announced as the showrunner on a proposed female-led Zorro reboot series in 2020, originally developed by NBC and latter passed to the CW. However, after years in development hell, plans for the series were ultimately scrapped in 2023.
