Optronic integrator

An optronic integrator was a piece of optronic circuitry used to facilitate connections in security and communications relays aboard a starship or space station.

In 2373, a Pah-wraith inhabiting the body of Keiko O'Brien demanded that Miles O'Brien reconfigure an optronic integrator on Level 5 of Deep Space 9 on her behalf. When Miles informed his staff he would be working on the integrator, Rom initially wanted to help, because he had an affinity for work involving phase shifting reconfigurations. After O'Brien completed the work, the pah-wraith informed him that the request was only test to be sure that it could trust him and that the "real work" would begin the next day.
