The Oceosauroida mendo shinobu was an aquatic lifeform of the genus Oceosauroida and a subspecies of the Oceosauroida mendo species, native to the planet Denkir IV.
An illustration of this lifeform with its species name was seen on the chart "Evolution of Intelligent Life on Planet Denkir IV". (TNG: "The Child")
The species was specifically labeled "O. mendo shinobu".
Given that the other species in the genus, Mendo shutaro, appears to be named for Mendou Shuutarou, a main character in the oft-mentioned anime Urusei Yatsura. It seems likely that this name is related to another character in the series, Miyake Shinobu.
