The nervous system was the system of neurons that controlled the movement of an organism as well as its mental activity, including consciousness. The autonomic nervous system was an extension of the central nervous system.

In 3189, an atomic scan was performed on the endocrine system/nervous system of Philippa Georgiou. The results of the scan revealed that her aldosterone (supine) was 15 nanograms per deciliters (ng/dl} and her cortisol was 14 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl). (DIS: "The Sanctuary")

In a deleted scene from TOS: "Elaan of Troyius", Nyota Uhura differs with Spock on the psychological effects of hearing the music of a Vulcan lute, suggesting the word "relaxing" did not describe it adequately. This prompts Spock to speculate that the instrument affects non-Vulcan nervous systems differently than those of Vulcans. (Star Trek: Lost Scenes)
