An idiot or moron was an insult for a stupid or foolish person, which included a number of synonymous informal terms such as blockhead, dimwit, dope, dullard, dum-dum, halfwit, imbecile, oaf, and ninny.

In 2268, Bela Okmyx called Spock a dope after the Vulcan misunderstood the meaning of the phrase "put the bag on", taking it literally, when it meant kidnapping. (TOS: "A Piece of the Action")

In 2285, Montgomery Scott redundantly called Spock a dumb ninny after the Vulcan entered the reactor room of the USS Enterprise without a protective suit. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

In 2364, L.Q. Clemonds said to the crew, "I paid some idiot a lot of money to freeze me when I died, and I just got to hear the words." (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")

In 2373, Q wondered what anyone saw in Chakotay, who he called a "big oaf". (VOY: "The Q and the Grey")

In 2374, Brunt called Rom a moron. (DS9: "The Magnificent Ferengi")

In 2375, Flotter called Trevis a blockhead after the tree touched a flame and caught fire, despite Flotter's warning not to. (VOY: "Once Upon a Time")

Also that year, Quark referred to Worf as "that lumbering Klingon oaf" while (oddly, according to the Ferengi) lamenting his not having been located. (DS9: "Strange Bedfellows")

In 2381, Beckett Mariner, as a result of impromptu counseling on her survivor guilt from Ma'ah, realized that Sito Jaxa would tell her she was "acting like an idiot" if the Bajoran were alive to see Mariner's self-destructive behavior. (LD: "The Inner Fight")

No more than a few days later, Nick Locarno asked Mariner to endorse his invitation to Nova Fleet; she instead warned viewers that their would-be commander was an idiot who "only [cared] about himself" and his actions would only endanger them. (LD: "Old Friends, New Planets")
