Mathew "Matt" Krentz (born 21 April 1982; age 42) is a visual effects artist who worked as a Digital Compositor for ILM on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. [1]

Born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, Krentz attended the Center for Digital Imaging and Sound in Vancouver and graduated after two years in 2002. He joined the Rainmaker company and worked on films such as Good Boy! (2003), Garfield: The Movie (2004), I, Robot (2004, with James Cromwell and Bruce Greenwood), Rob Bowman's Elektra (2005, with Cary-Hiroyuki and Jason Isaacs), Firewall (2006, with Virginia Madsen), The Da Vinci Code (2006), Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006), and Blades of Glory (2007), as well as on the television series The Collector (2004), Stargate: Atlantis (2004, with regular Paul McGillion), and Stargate SG-1 (2004).

In 2007 he joined the company CafeFX and worked as a digital compositor on The Mist (2007, with William Sadler) and Nim's Island (2008), followed by a current connection with CIS Vancouver and projects such as Changeling (2008), Case 39 (2009), Space Buddies (2009, starring Diedrich Bader), and Aliens in the Attic (2009). Beside Star Trek, Krentz worked also as digital compositor for ILM on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008, with Pavel Lychnikoff and Alan Dale).

Krentz was part of the VFX team which earned an Emmy Award Nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Series for the Stargate: Atlantis episode Rising and received a Leo Award for Best Visual Effects in a dramatic Series for The Collector and a VES Nomination for Outstanding Compositing in a Motion Picture for the Da Vinci Code.
