There was question in 2373 as to how many offspring Lieutenant Vilix'pran was going to have in his budding that year. Because he had two in his last litter, and four before that, his most recent litter was projected to be anywhere from eight to 18. (DS9: "Apocalypse Rising")

Following the loss of USS Voyager in the Delta Quadrant, Kathryn Janeway's Irish Setter Mollie had a litter of puppies that Janeway did not learn about until several years later in 2374. (VOY: "Hunters") Mollie herself was the runt of the litter, but Janeway chose her because she thought the dog had spunk. (VOY: "Shattered")
