Laura Van Vleet is the freelance writer who pitched the original idea for the Star Trek: Voyager fifth season episode "Counterpoint" along with Gregory L. Norris based on her screenplay entitled "The Hiding" which was later re-written by Michael Taylor. (Star Trek Monthly issue 80) The two also pitched the original story for the fifth season episode "Gravity", re-written by Jimmy Diggs, Nick Sagan, and Bryan Fuller. [1]
Van Vleet and Gregory L. Norris also pitched stories to Star Trek: Enterprise as well as to Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, the Space Opera Society, Showtime, and Syfy. She has written articles for magazines such as "Metro and Arts Around Boston", "Cinescape", and "Sci-Fi Channel Magazine" for which she interviewed actors including Kate Mulgrew, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and Martin Landau. Also with writing partner Gregory L. Norris, Van Fleet wrote the guide "Playing With The Big Boys: A Woman's Guide to Poker" in 2003 which was published by Barnes & Noble. [3]
