Kreetassa was an inhabited planet that was located within 120 light years of Earth. It was home to a humanoid, warp-capable species called the Kreetassans.

First contact with the Kreetassans was made in 2151 by the crew of the Earth Starfleet starship Enterprise NX-01. (ENT: "Vox Sola") However, it was not until a year later, in 2152, that the ship visited Kreetassa.

In addition to humanoid species, Kreetassa was home to plant life in the form of large trees including sacred Alvera trees. The planet also supported pathogenic lifeforms, harmless to Humans but deadly to Earth canines. (ENT: "A Night in Sickbay")

Background information[]

The image of the planet contains a reverse image of the Great Lakes, surrounded entirely by land (i.e., without the St. Lawrence Seaway). The same reverse image is used for a shot of Enterprise orbiting Earth in "Affliction".

In the final draft script of "A Night in Sickbay", Kreetassa was not physically described, only that it be "an alien planet." The planet's capital city was described as "a series of formally-arranged buildings, monuments, and parks."

StarTrek.com identified the Kreetassans as an Alpha Quadrant species, placing their homeworld in that quadrant. [1](X)

According to the reference book Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 60, "United Federation of Planets III"), Kreetassa was located in the Psi 5 Aurigae system, in the Alpha Quadrant. This system was a single star system. The primary was a class G star with a magnitude of +5, which was the same brightness as Sol. In the mid-22nd century, this system was in non-aligned space. In the late 24th century, this system was in or near to Federation space. The planet Pyrellia, home to Pyrellian ginger tea, was located in this system as well.
