John Ames (born 17 June 1980; age 44) is an actor who appeared as a background actor in three Star Trek episodes, one of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and two of Star Trek: Voyager. He received no credit for his appearance but was identified by the call sheets of the episodes.

Born in La Crescent, Minnesota, Ames earned his BFA in Acting from the University of Arts. He worked as spokesperson on QVC representing thirteen products and also appeared in commercials for Wendy's (2004), Mercedes-Benz (2002), Pepsi (2002), McDonald's (2001), and Bank of America (2007) as well as in industrials for Conexant (2001) and Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (2004) and in a public service announcement for the Drug Free America Campaign on Meth (2006).

Following his appearances in the Star Trek episodes, Ames also appeared in episodes of Hang Time (1999, with Megan Parlen and Phillip Glasser), The Amanda Show (2000, with Ashley Edner), Malcolm in the Middle (2001, with Michael Welch), Go Fish (2001, with Andy Dick), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2006, starring Paul Guilfoyle and Wallace Langham, with Lorna Raver and Blake Lindsley), Passions (2004 and 2007, with McKenzie Westmore and D.C.
